What we collect, why we need it, who we share it with, and how to get it back or deleted.
What we collect
Only what a tour operator genuinely needs: the name and contact details on your enquiry, the passport details required to apply for a China visa or to book train tickets and airline seats, the dietary and accessibility requirements you tell us about, and the payment details required to take a deposit. For a group booking we also hold the names and passport numbers of everyone travelling, because Chinese rail and airline ticketing require them.
Why we need it
To apply for visas, to book your tickets and hotels, to meet Chinese legal requirements for inbound travel, and to run the trip you have paid for. We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to third parties for marketing.
Who we share it with
Only the suppliers needed to deliver your trip: airlines, Chinese railway, hotels, the attraction ticketing systems, and the local ground operator in each city. Each receives the minimum required for your booking. Where the law requires it, we also share your data with Chinese public security and border authorities, as every licensed inbound operator must.
How long we keep it
Enquiry records are kept for two years. Booking and traveller records are kept for the period required by Chinese law and tax obligations, typically five years. Passport data is deleted or anonymised once those obligations end, unless you ask us to keep it for a future trip.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email hello@wanderchinatour.com and we will deal with it within 30 days.
Payments
Card details are handled by our payment provider, not by us. We never see or store full card numbers. Bank transfers and balances are recorded only in our accounting system.
