What Is Included in a Wander China Tour
Most China tour pages are vague about inclusions until you reach the small print. This page is the opposite: here is the list, in the order you will experience it, and here is what we leave out and why.
Included in every Wander China itinerary
| Item | What that means in practice |
|---|---|
| Accommodation | 4-diamond hotels on the Ctrip scale (the scale Chinese hotels actually use), twin share, breakfast included. Beijing and Shanghai properties are within roughly 10km of the centre; elsewhere typically within 5km. |
| Licensed local guides | A licensed local guide in every destination, English-speaking as standard. Guides are regional — the person who takes you through Xi’an is not the person who takes you through Guilin, because local knowledge is the whole point. |
| Private vehicle and driver | Exclusive use, no group sharing. Our own fleet runs from 5-seat sedans to 52-seat coaches, so the vehicle matches the group rather than the other way round. |
| All entrance tickets to the sites in your itinerary | Booked by us in advance, so you walk in rather than queue at a window. This includes cable cars, shuttle buses, elevators, scenic-area transport and listed shows, which are itemised day by day on each itinerary page. |
| Inter-city transport | High-speed rail (second class) and domestic flights as listed, all booked by us with your passport details. |
| Arrival and departure transfers | Private, door to door, with flight monitoring — if your flight is late, the driver waits and there is no supplement. |
| 24/7 in-trip support | A named operations contact reachable for the whole trip, not a call centre. |
| Medical and baggage insurance for travelling guests | Arranged for the duration of the tour. We still ask you to carry your own travel insurance with medical evacuation cover — see entry requirements. |
Not included
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| International flights | You get a better price booking from your own market, and you keep control of routing and dates. |
| China visa fees | Payable in your own country. We prepare the documentation. |
| Travel insurance | Needs to be issued in your country of residence to be valid for medical evacuation. |
| Personal expenses and drinks | Everything outside the listed meals. |
| Single room supplement | Priced separately and shown on your quote, not buried in it. |
| 3% VAT | Added to the tour total, shown as its own line. |
No shopping stops, no commissions
There are no shopping stops on any itinerary, no compulsory visits, and no commission arrangements with shops. Our guides and drivers are not incentivised to take you anywhere, which is why they will tell you when something is not worth your time. Read what we guarantee.
What the price does not tell you about pace
Two itineraries can cover the same cities and feel completely different. Every route page carries a day-by-day plan and a note on walking and climbing load, because the honest variable is not the price, it is whether the pacing suits you. If someone in your group has limited mobility, say so on the first message and we will adjust the plan before we quote it.
